Colouring Activity

The colours you choose can tell a story!

In many Indigenous cultures, storytelling is very important. Stories help teach lessons, share history, and pass down knowledge from Elders to younger generations. Art is one way of telling these stories. Stories in art can be through shapes, symbols, and colours that show connection to the Land and to family. For many Indigenous peoples across Canada, colours come from the Land and have been used in art for thousands of years.

Below are links to instructions on how to approach colour as a way of expressing your voice and coloring pages all feature artwork that is part of the Your Voice is Power music program.
